Our next seminar covering the topic „Old and new Conflicts around Globalisation“ presented by Dr. Priska Daphi will take place on Thursday, July 20th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Seminarhaus SH 0.109 (ground floor) on Campus Westend.

Dr. Priska Daphi, who is Head of the Research Group “Conflict and Social Movements” at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF), will talk and discuss about the conflicts and protests around globalisation and migration that have recently been arisen in Germany. After her studies of Political Sociology in Maastricht and London, she did her doctoral studies at Humboldt-University Berlin. Since 2014, she works as research associate at the Institute for Political Science at Goethe University Frankfurt and amongst others, she is involved at the project „Alternativlos? Gesellschaftlicher Protest in der Globalisierungskritischen Bewegung zwischen Opposition und Dissidenz“. Moreover, she is a founding member of the Institute for Protest and Social Movement Studies in Berlin and spokesperson of the “Working Group on Social Movements”. As head of the Research Group “Conflict and Social Movements” at PRIF, which is the largest institute for peace research in Germany, she considers the role of social movements and civil-society actors around globalisation and migration.

The seminar takes place within academic experience Worldwide e.V.’s regular seminar series. Each of our seminars is designed as an open space inviting students and refugees to establish an active exchange. In the seminars, postcolonial studies serve as discussion basis, media is being analysed as well as learnings about the conflicts and problems in the countries of origin of our international participants are covered. All seminars are open to public, free of charge for all participants and take place on a regular basis in a two-week rhythm in Frankfurt.
